ANIMAL CONTROL

Spring Lake Park police respond to a limited number of situations involving animals. Due to severe budget constraints, we will only collect and impound stray pets that:

  • Are severely injured or appear ill and/or neglected

  • Pose a risk to other animals or humans

Pets that are simply wondering about, generally will not be impounded. Owners who are located however, may be cited for allowing their pets to run at large.

Wild animals such as squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, skunks, deer and bear, occasionally turn up in Spring Lake Park. Unless they pose a public safety hazard, we will not pick them up. The DNR instructs police and the public to leave them alone and they will move on.
